Beautiful Indonesia

Indonesia, especially East Java, has so many beautiful and exotic location s. It is enriched by rich culture which lays across the archipelogo. If you are interested in traveling around East Java, the following is some of the "have-to" to visit tourism sites.

Bromo Mountain

Stated in Probolinggo, East Java, Bromo mountain has been one of a major destination for tourist when visiting East Java. It is 3 hours travel by car from Surabaya. The word 'bromo' originally from old java language, brahma, one of the hindust god. For Tengger people, this mountain is a sacred mountain. Every year they celebrate a Yadnya Kasada, that is a old ritual where the Tengger people throw in their harvest to the crate as gives. In the old days, they used human instead of livestock. This ritual is held every full moon in the tenth month of the year, i.e. Kasodo month, according Javanese calender.

Bromo mountain is 2,392 m above sea level and it is still active. Its crate has around 800m wide (east-to-west) and 600 m long (south-to-north). It is part of National Park of Bromo Tengger Semeru, which is officially opened in 1997. It situated inside a huge crate, along with three other dead mountains. The crate is formed of sandy sea which covers around 5,250 acres area. From the Penanjakan, visitor can enjoy a morning sun rise with Bromo crate in front and semeru mountain in the back.

Beside the landscape, visitor also can enjoy the local tradiational culture. It is a unique and exotic culture which has lived fro thousand years.
